Can I upload any cute image I fine online?

Generally, NO. Uploading copyrighted images to social media without the owner’s permission constitutes copyright infringement. Simply crediting the creator or stating you “do not own the rights” does not make the upload legal.

Note: Any images that you create in our Canva account are covered under Canva as the right to use is included in our subscription.

Risks of Uploading

If you post unauthorized copyrighted images, the copyright owner can issue a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) takedown notice, resulting in your account being flagged or suspended. In more serious cases, owners may pursue legal action, which can lead to severe financial penalties.

There are free stock image sources avalable, If you really need that access, please put in a ticket and I will give you access.

Permitted Ways to Share – simple and sure, only use the images and graphics you create in Canva.

You can safely share images on social media using the following methods:

  • Native Sharing/Retweeting: Using built-in platform features like Retweets (X), Shares (Facebook), or Repins (Pinterest) is perfectly legal, as the original post and links remain intact.
  • Creative Commons: Images published under a Creative Commons license are free to use, provided you follow their specific requirements (e.g., attribution).
  • Public Domain: Works where copyright has expired (such as images created before 1923) are free to use without permission.
  • Original Content: Images you have created yourself or those for which you have purchased a license.
  • Fair Use: Limited use for purposes like commentary, criticism, or news reporting may fall under Fair Use, though this is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
